Ingredients associated with hydration and skin protection see a sharp increase in views as consumers turn their attention to the skin barrier
Beauty trends move quickly across social media, but several familiar skincare ingredients have suddenly returned to the center of the conversation.
Data tracking beauty content across TikTok, Instagram and YouTube shows strong growth in topics related to squalane, collagen, body oil and ceramides.
The biggest jump was recorded for squalane, with a 3,770% week-over-week increase in views in data compiled by Submarine.ai.
Content related to the ingredient generated approximately 8.6 million views during the period analyzed.
Ceramides are surging too
Ceramides recorded a 3,163% increase compared with the previous week, also reaching approximately 8.6 million views within the methodology used.
Body oil content increased by more than 3,400%.
The figures reflect content published by official brand channels and do not represent all activity across the platforms, but they offer a snapshot of which topics are accelerating within the beauty industry.
Fewer steps, more focus on skin health
The movement follows a broader shift in skincare.
After years of elaborate routines and constantly changing viral products, consumers are increasingly interested in formulas associated with hydration and maintaining the skin barrier.
As with any skincare trend, popularity on social media does not mean a product or ingredient is appropriate for every skin type.
But the latest numbers show that these ingredients are once again at the center of the digital beauty conversation.
