New York Fashion Week is already revealing the trends that could define 2027

Texture, bold accessories, unexpected layering and a new take on classic pieces are emerging from the Spring/Summer 2027 collections

New York has turned into a runway again. New York Fashion Week is underway, and the Spring/Summer 2027 collections are already offering clues about what could move from the catwalk to stores and social media in the coming months.

The official calendar includes 126 activations, including 63 runway shows, seven presentations, digital events and appointments across the city. Major brands are sharing the schedule with a new generation of designers, while fashion editors, celebrities, buyers and influencers move between shows across Manhattan.

Texture and layers are everywhere

One of the early trends emerging from the runways is dimension. Designers are combining textured fabrics, unconventional layering and oversized or maximalist accessories with familiar wardrobe staples.

Instead of choosing between minimalism and statement dressing, several collections are mixing the two. Bold color and texture are also appearing alongside longer, leaner silhouettes.

Beauty trends are developing alongside the clothes, with bright colors, expressive eye makeup and soft, wavy hairstyles appearing backstage and on the runway.

Established names meet a new generation

This year’s calendar combines major fashion houses with emerging designers. Diane von Furstenberg returned to the official NYFW schedule for the first time in nine years, with Henry Zankov making his debut as the brand’s creative director.

Ralph Lauren, Coach, Calvin Klein and other established names are part of a week that also gives significant space to newer labels and first-time runway presentations.

The fashion week runs through September 15 before the industry’s attention moves to the next stage of the international fashion calendar.
