Hollywood prepares for the 78th Emmy Awards, with The Pitt, Hacks, Widow’s Bay and Pluribus among the biggest contenders
Television takes center stage in Hollywood Monday night. The 78th Emmy Awards will be held September 14 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, bringing together some of the biggest stars and most talked-about television productions of the year.
This year’s ceremony will be hosted by Mariska Hargitay and broadcast live on NBC and Peacock. At the center of the competition is The Pitt.
The HBO series leads the field with 25 nominations, including major categories. Close behind is Hacks, with 24 nominations. Apple TV’s Widow’s Bay received 19, while Pluribus earned 18 nominations. Netflix’s second season of Beef collected 16.
Some winners have already been announced
The main ceremony follows the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, where several technical and guest categories were presented earlier. That means some productions will arrive Monday night already carrying Emmy trophies.
The remaining awards include many of the categories audiences follow most closely, including best drama series, comedy series and major acting awards.
The red carpet coverage begins before the ceremony, with the main broadcast scheduled for 8 p.m. ET Monday.
