September 9 event raises expectations for one of the biggest changes to the iPhone’s design since the device was introduced
Apple is preparing to hold one of the most anticipated events of the year in the technology industry this Wednesday, September 9.
And one product in particular is drawing much of the attention: the company’s first foldable iPhone.
Apple has already sent out invitations for the presentation, while reports published in recent days suggest the company could finally enter the foldable smartphone market.
Apple enters a market already explored by competitors
Manufacturers including Samsung and Google already sell foldable smartphones, but Apple has remained outside the category for years.
The company’s potential entry into the segment could represent one of the most significant changes to the physical design of the iPhone since the device was first introduced.
Expectations also include updates to the iPhone 18 Pro lineup and other products across Apple’s ecosystem.
First major launch under new leadership
The event also comes at an important moment for Apple itself.
John Ternus recently took over as CEO, and the launch will give the company’s new chief executive one of his first major opportunities to present the direction of Apple’s products under his leadership.
As with most major Apple events, some of the reported features remain based on industry reports and leaks. Official specifications, products and other details will only be confirmed when Apple makes its announcements.
