Fruit-shaped ice cream, fiber-packed gummies and Costco’s viral cookie are among the products generating buzz on social media
TikTok and Instagram are not just influencing fashion and beauty.
Social media is increasingly influencing what ends up inside Americans’ grocery carts.
A new list published this week by Food & Wine highlights five products that have gone viral among U.S. consumers, showing how online videos and recommendations can quickly turn grocery items into highly sought-after snacks.
Ice cream that looks like real fruit
One of the most visually distinctive products is Aiko Garden’s Fruit Bucket Ice Cream.
Sold at Asian grocery stores including H Mart, the product features individual frozen desserts designed to resemble pieces of fruit.
Another viral item comes from Trader Joe’s.
The retailer’s Sweet & Sour Gummy Worms have attracted attention not only for their flavor but also because they contain 14 grams of fiber per serving and zero sugar, according to the nutrition information highlighted by the publication. Consuming large amounts of fiber or certain sweeteners, however, can cause gastrointestinal discomfort.
A viral cookie returns to Costco
The Kirkland Signature Marshmallow Crispy Cookie has also returned to Costco after previously selling out amid heavy social media attention.
The list also includes Butterkäse cheese sold at Aldi, which gained popularity after being featured in a viral sweet potato recipe, as well as Trader Joe’s seasonal Patio Potato Chips.
The speed at which these products move from social media feeds to shopping lists shows how the grocery store itself has become part of online trend culture.
